The role will be a critical resource and catalyst for the further development of experimental cancer research across the University. The post holder will provide effective project management to key strategic cancer projects within the College of Medical & Dental Sciences (MDS), primarily the CRUK/ NIHR funded Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) including the co-ordination, communication, monitoring and reporting of activities and project outcomes. The post holder will also be expected to maintain close links with the recently funded CRUK Birmingham Centre and identify appropriate opportunities for interactions between these two CRUK funded centres that are of mutual benefit. Additionally, the post holder will provide direct administrative support for the CRUK Birmingham Centre’s PhD Programme.
The post-holder will take a direct role in the oversight and management (where appropriate) of experimental cancer medicine initiatives led by the College, and will be responsible for the day to day coordination and administration associated with the ECMC. The post-holder will build significant links to internal and external collaborators, and provide an efficient and effective central point of contact and responsibility. This post will be based in the Institute of Translational Medicine and will work closely with partners from across Birmingham Health Partners (a strategic alliance between University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, University of Birmingham and Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust). The post holder will be an integral member of the College of MDS Research and Knowledge Transfer Office, drawing on and enhancing the Office’s professional project management support function.
The post will report into the CRUK Centre Manager within the Research & Knowledge Transfer Office of the College of Medical & Dental Sciences.
