We are seeking to recruit a self-motivated and experienced research development professional with a strong commitment to customer service to support the delivery of ambitious targets for research funding capture in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Birmingham. You will be joining a vibrant team, in a role providing a key part of the research support dedicated to the College and the wider infrastructure for research support across the University of Birmingham led by Research and Innovation Services.
The Research Facilitator will be responsible for driving and supporting research funding schemes to academics across a portfolio of Schools within the College. The post-holder will be involved in all research and knowledge transfer application support to UK funding schemes and, in particular, proactively leading the matching of academic ideas to specific funding opportunities and bid development (including strategic project guidance and drafting text), having oversight of the collation of costs, partnership coordination, management of internal approval processes, and technicalities of the submission process.
Educated with at least an honours degree in a discipline within the College’s portfolio, the ideal candidate will also have a knowledge and understanding of research in an area relevant to the College. It is expected that applicants will have excellent experience of proposal development, a knowledge and understanding of the UK research and innovation environment, a proven track record in significantly contributing to winning bids, a commitment to the delivery of exceptional customer service, and a broad understanding of how research is undertaken in Engineering and the Physical Sciences.
